"The Maquinit Hot Spring is one of the most unique experiences in Coron. Unlike most hot springs, this one is naturally heated saltwater, which is extremely rare. Instead of freshwater rising from underground, the water here is seawater warmed by geothermal activity, giving it a very different and memorable feel. The biggest tip: go early in the morning. It opens at 8am. We arrived shortly after opening and it made all the difference. The air was cooler, there were far fewer people, and the water temperature felt perfect. The setting is beautiful as well, surrounded by mangroves right beside the ocean, which makes it feel very natural and peaceful. Soaking in the warm saltwater in that environment was incredibly relaxing. Don’t forget to cool off in the misting zones periodically to get the full rejuvenating effects. It is an excellent place for snorkelling. You can descend into the water and observe a delightful array of marine life; countless small fish of vivid colours glide past. The water quality is impeccable, and jumping in is simply wonderful. However, timing is everything here. It is absolutely essential to time your visit to coincide with low tide. "This is a tiny airport that has been outgrown by its traffic. Wr had to fly around for 20 minutes because they had two planes at the airport that was delayed in taking off. Staff were all friendly except our luggage took too long to get on the conveyor. There is an environmental fee of 20 pesos as soon as you get out of the terminal. They do not allow vehicles to wait inside for passengers. We had to walk 100 meters under the hot sun to the highway with our luggage. They only allow passenger drop off at the terminal.
