PackPoint is the simplest packing app of the four: a free list built from your trip length, the weather and your activities, on iPhone and Android. Pick Packr Premium for a family or a trip with several stops, and Packing Pro if you would rather pay once. None of the 10 dedicated packing apps checked on the App Store on October 19, 2026 was free with nothing to buy.

Is PackPoint free?
PackPoint is free to download, and the free version already builds the list: tell it where and how long, add your activities, and it suggests what to pack for the forecast. The App Store sells a Premium package for $2.99 once and small add-ons, including a TripIt integration, and a separate PackPoint Premium app for the same price. It runs on iPhone and Android, from the developer Wawwo.
Is Packr free?
Packr is free to download: it builds a list per trip from your destination, dates and activities, with a 3-day forecast, per packr.app. Most of what sets it apart is Premium, $2.99 a month, $19.99 a year or $49.99 once: a 10-day forecast, your own lists, multiple travelers on one trip, trips with several destinations, sync across devices and no ads.
PackPoint vs Packr
PackPoint and Packr do the same core job, so the choice comes down to the trip.
| If your trip | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Is one place, one traveler | PackPoint | The shortest path from trip to list |
| Has several stops | Packr Premium | Multi-destination trips are a Premium feature |
| Has kids or a group | Packr Premium | Multiple travelers on one trip are a Premium feature |
| Should never cost anything | Neither app | Both sell upgrades; use a free web generator or a template |

- Families: Packr Premium, for multiple travelers on one trip.
A packing list without an app
Disclosure: this is the product behind this blog.
MonkeyEatingMango's packing list generator runs in the browser, free: give it the destination, the month and the trip length, and it builds a checklist with weather gear from the measured climate of that month. Each list gets its own link to tick off, share, or download for Excel, Word, Google Sheets or print. It has no app, no reminders and no sync between devices. A blank, printable packing list template covers the rest, and the best travel apps guide covers the apps for the rest of the trip.
How this was put together
The four apps come from 14 apps checked on the US App Store on October 19, 2026, 10 of them dedicated packing apps: PackPoint and Packr win the "packing list app" search with their App Store listings, Packing List Checklist has the most ratings among the rest, and Packing Pro is the most-rated app sold upfront. Prices and ratings were read off each listing that day; platform support comes from each app's store listings and site. None of the apps was run on a test trip, and none paid for placement.
