The Batalla del Vino de Haro is one of Spain's most exhilarating annual rituals — a morning wine fight held on the rocky clifftops above Haro in La Rioja wine country. Thousands of participants dressed in white gather at the Hermitage of San Felices on St. Peter's Day and proceed to drench each other in red Rioja wine using water pistols, backpacks, and bottles.

During Corpus Christi week, the small mountain town of Berga fills with centuries-old figures — giants, dwarves, dragons, and fire-carrying demons — that dance through the streets in a spectacle of fire, music, and community identity dating to medieval times.
